Manchester United and Real Madrid target Alex Witsel

Benfica are reportedly ready to sell Axel Witsel, who has been linked with Manchester United and Real Madrid.

The Belgium international  only joined the Portuguese club last summer, signing a five-year deal when he moved from Standard Liege.

But reports in Portugal last month claimed the midfielder has already told several of his team-mates at the Estadio da Luz that he will be on the move this summer.

And according to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Benfica are ready to let the 23-year-old leave the club this summer - providing their £20million valuation is met.

Benfica paid Liege around £6.5m for Witsel twelve months ago.

Several other clubs have shown interest in Witsel, including AC Milan, Roma, and Premier League champions Manchester City.

Portuguese publication O Jogo recently reported that Man City captain Vincent Kompany had already made contact with the player to sound him out about a move to the Etihad Stadium.
