Russia demolished Czech Republic to take the lead

Russia went top of Group A as they hammered Czech Republic 4-1, an impressive victory at the Municipal Stadium in Wroclaw.

Russia was fantastic with a 2-0 interval in 24 minutes after a rather slow kick off. They only seemed to be wobble a little bit when Pilar scored at 52 minutes to shorten the odds for Czech Republic. Overall they dominated the match and scored twice in second half to close the match at 4-1. Andrei Arshavin was pivotal for the Russians, linking particularly well with Zenit team-mate Dzagoev.

Czech showed a lack of ideas how to going forward. Valcav Pilar had a well taken goal, however seasoned performers like Rosicky and Baros looked old and slow. There was no highlight in their play that could have made a difference. A well deserved game for Russia side.

The scoreline could have been wider for Russia if Zenit striker Alexander Kerzhakov had performed better. He had dozen of chances but became the first striker in EURO to have 7 shots off target in a single game. There sure is room for improvement.

Russia was not ahead in terms of ball possession or statistics, but it seemed controlling ball only was not enough. Effectiveness and key individuals to dictate the game was what Czech Republic lacked this match.

Tonight we will see some impressive football as the hardest Group in EURO 2012 kick off. Germany vs Portugal and Netherlands vs Denmark. Would super stars like Ronaldo or Persie live up to the expectations. Check out the latest odds and picks at M88 Sportsbook. Do not miss your chance.
