It was a dramatic night at Warsaw National Stadium. The Poles took the lead at 17 minutes and played with 1 more man from 44 minutes onward as Sokratis was sent off following a rather harsh decision by the referee. They attacked beautifully and had some slick passing and after 1st half it seemed that there was only 1 team in the game.
Tyto after saving the penalty
On Greece side, their trade mark defense looks weak for the first 45 minutes but the harsh sending-off Sokratis seemed to have a reversed effect on the team. After the break, they were forced to attack and it suited them better. The introduction of Salpingidis, a 30 year old player, was the key. His experience has lifted the team resulting in the leveling goal at 51 minutes mark.
Poland will be kicking themselves after throwing away a possible win on their first challenge of EURO 2012 quest.
The drama, however, was far from finished and the Poles were down to 10 players when Szczesny endured a moment of madness, and sent off. The nightmare seemed to be all over the arena, but Tyto came off a hero after saving the crucial penalty to ensure the co-host brought home at least 1 point. A point was a fair result, but such a dramatic match for the begin of EURO 2012.
