The end of Linsanity?

It's possible that we've seen the last of Linsanity for the 2011-2012 NBA season.

The New York Knicks announced on Sunday that guard Jeremy Lin will undergo arthroscropic surgery to repair a "small, chronic meniscal tear" in his left knee. He's expected to miss six weeks, which puts his season in jeopardy.

"I want to be out there helping the team. It's a 6 week rehabilitation process but I heal quickly so we'll see," Lin said, according to the Knicks. "When I come back I'll be stronger than I ever was and a better player."

"It's a big blow," Knicks interim coach Mike Woodson said, according to The New York Times.

The Knicks play their final regular season game of the year on April 26, less than four weeks away. New York is currently the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference with a record of 26-26. The Knicks hold a 1.5 game lead over the Milwaukee Bucks, the East's No. 9 seed, with 14 games remaining on their schedule. There's a chance that Lin could be available for the playoffs, assuming the Knicks qualify, but first round series are scheduled to begin on April 28. The Knicks are not expected to advance to the second round.

Lin has missed New York's last three games due to the injury, last playing against the Detroit Pistons on March 24. New York is 2-1 in his absence.

Woodson has started Baron Davis and Iman Shumpert in his backcourt and used J.R. Smith, Mike Bibby and Toney Douglas off the bench.

Lin, a Taiwanese-American, rose to international stardom earlier this season when he had a sensational month after moving into the Knicks starting lineup. Lin went undrafted out of Harvard and was released by both the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets before his breakout in New York.

Lin, 23, is averaging 14.6 points, 6.1 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 26.9 minutes per game for the Knicks this season.

'A miracle from God', Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Lin is calling his rags-to-riches NBA story "a miracle from God", not only a coincident for breaking everything with a sudden.

"Anytime something like this happens, a lot of stuff has to be put into place, and a lot of it is out of my control," the Knicks phenom point guard said on Tuesday. It beyond my control, "If you look back at my story, doesn't matter where you look, but God's fingerprints are all over the place where there have been things that had to happen.

'Linsanity' to go further in Asia

"I think Lin's lately performance is excellent, the whole world is watching him. Of course because of his Chinese descent - Chinese fans are paying high attention to him too, no doubt it helps NBA's Asia market development," Lu Hao, President of Starz Int'l Sports, said.

Chinese fans couldn't agree more.

"I haven't watch NBA after Yao's retirement. But I started to watch it again when Jeremy Lin came up. And I'm going to buy a jersey of his," a fan said.

Observers have speculated that the potential marketing appeal of Lin in Asia is critical, especially given the NBA's recent financial woes. (ANI)

Linsanity kept to a minimum in Rising Stars Challenge

His press conference lasted longer than his time on the floor, which was by design. Just like a point guard, Jeremy Lin just wanted to make his teammates better.

So the highlights and playing time was shared by Ricky Rubio and Paul George and especially Kyrie Irving, players who haven't generated as much attention as Lin in their combined lives.

Anyone who checked on the Rising Stars Challenge to get a glimpse of the player who's shaking up the NBA had to look fast. Lin was done after throwing a lob to Blake Griffin in the first half and dropping a reverse layup in the second, toweling off after an exhausting eight minutes.

"The experience tonight was a lot of fun," he said. "I didn't play too much but I was glad to be a part of it. Just thankful to spend time with my teammate, Landry Fields, and guys like Blake Griffin."

Lin explained he asked for limited minutes because "I didn't want to play a back-to-back-to-back" -- meaning two games with the Knicks and then the Rising Stars -- but it went deeper than that.

Careful about the cult following he has generated in a short time, Lin simply didn't want to show up the other players, most of them young and eager to create a buzz for themselves. Besides, two weeks ago Lin wasn't even on the radar for this game, designed to showcase the league's up-and-comers.

"I was going to some warm, tropical beach and vacation with my family," Lin said.
